نشر السفير الأمريكي لدى المغرب، ديوك بوكان الثالث، تغريدة أكد فيها أن الولايات المتحدة قدمت مساراً تاريخياً لتحقيق السلام في قضية الصحراء، مشيراً إلى أن هذا الحل كان سينهي ما وصفته الأمم المتحدة بـ”الوضع غير الإنساني” للاجئين الصحراويين في مخيمات تندوف، ويساهم في دفع العملية السياسية قدماً.
The United States offered a historic path to peace in Western Sahara. It would have ended what the UN calls a “genuinely, truly inhumane” situation for the Sahrawi refugees in the Tindouf camps and advanced the political process. Eleven members of the UN Security Council agreed. President Trump believes an urgently needed solution will not only bring peace to the region but prosperity and greater integration for all of Africa. This dispute must end now, and the United States will continue to drive progress toward that end.

وأوضح السفير أن الرئيس دونالد ترامب يرى أن الوصول إلى حل عاجل لن يجلب السلام للمنطقة فحسب، بل سيعزز الازدهار والتكامل الاقتصادي لجميع أنحاء القارة الإفريقية. وشدد على ضرورة إنهاء هذا النزاع، مؤكداً استمرار الولايات المتحدة في قيادة الجهود للوصول إلى هذا الهدف.
